Central concert- Pie and Ice Cream Concert rescheduled: Because the UND Honor Band and Choir Festival has been rescheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sunday in UND’s Chester Fritz Auditorium, and the Central High School Band Pie & Ice Cream Concert has been moved from 2 p.m. Sunday to 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Central gym. Because of the change, the Central concert no longer will feature pie and ice cream.
Photographer visit- March 1 in EGF library: East Grand Forks Campbell Library will host photographer Doug Ohman from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 1 in conjunction with its annual “Northern Exposures” photography contest and exhibit. Ohman is a freelance photographer and popular public speaker who has traveled throughout the Upper Midwest making photos of historic architecture including churches, schools, courthouses, barns and cabins, and has been widely published. For six years, he’s been working with the Minnesota Historical Society on the popular book series, “Minnesota Byways.” Ohman will share stories and historical information about some of Minnesota’s most treasured buildings. David Burgess- Sunday in Grand Forks, Monday in Mayville, N.D.: Classical guitarist David Burgess will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday in North Dakota Museum of Art, Grand Forks, and at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Mayville (N.D.) State University Classroom Building Auditorium. Tickets for Grand Forks show: Nonmembers, $15; members, $13; students and military, $5; children middle-school age and younger, free. Mayville show: Adults, $12.50; high school students, $5; MSU students with ID, free.
Mark Larsen exhibit- Through March 3 in Amazing Grains: Mark Larsen’s exhibit of photography will be on display through March 3 at the Harvest Gallery at Amazing Grains in downtown Grand Forks. Larsen has been passionate about photography since he was a boy and helped his father in a home darkroom, he said. Photos in this exhibit were taken in Minnesota and Hawaii, the Galapagos Islands, Peru and Italy. Prints are available for sale with proceeds going to Community Violence Intervention Center.
Documentary- Tuesday on Prairie Public:‹A television documentary from Prairie Public that chronicles the life and work of North Dakota photographer Wayne Gudmundson will premiere at 7 p.m. Tuesday on PPTV, Channel 13 on Grand Forks cable. “A Considered View: The Photography of Wayne Gudmundson” was inspired by his retrospective photography show of the same name. Originating at Plains Art Museum, it is traveling to galleries in North Dakota and will eventually be on display at the U.S. Embassy in Reykjavik, Iceland. About the documentary: Filmed in North Dakota, Minnesota and Iceland, it illustrates Gudmundson’s photos and examines their cultural significance and ability to capture a sense of place. His black-and-white photographs are in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art in New York City, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal, Plains Art Museum in Fargo, and the U.S. Embassy in Reykjavik.
Quilts- Thursday in Grand Forks: Quilts and Coffee, a series of educational events sponsored by North Star Quilter’s Guild, will bring Pam Dindorf, designer of Aardvark Quilt Patterns, to First Presbyterian Church, Grand Forks, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Choral festival- Friday in Fargo: North Dakota State University will host the inaugural Women’s Choral Festival on Friday. Organized by Charlette Moe, the festival will have more than 200 female singers from throughout the region and will feature choirs from NDSU, Concordia College, Fargo North Women’s Choir and Lake Agassiz Girls Choir. Concert: 7 p.m. Friday concert in Festival Concert Hall. Admission: Free.
‘Fourth Grade Nothing’- Feb. 21 in the Chester Fritz: Tickets are on sale now for “Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing,” a show based on the Judy Blume book, set for 2 p.m. Feb. 21 in UND’s Chester Fritz Auditorium, Grand Forks. Tickets: All seats, $16, or four for $50.
Red Carpet Celebration- ‘Oscars’ in Grand Forks: Tickets are on sale now for the second annual Red Carpet Celebration March 7 at Empire Arts Center to celebrate the Academy Awards.
